TEAM (Together Everyone Achieves More)

Streaks are made to be broken, But then start another. Regionals were great. The team went 3 and 1 and are headed to state as a #3 seed. Thats a great place to be. St. Stephens, the team we will be playing, is loaded with talent and speed. So is Chugwater. The guys match up with them real well. It should be a battle to the end.
So I hope you can all attend the Casper Event Center at 7:30 pm on Thursday.

TEAM Building

Turning The Corner.
We passed our next test. Guernsey 55 Chugwater 61. In Guernsey
We lead by 20 at one point but allowed the pressure defense to get to us and found ourselves late in the forth quarter up by 2.
But Perseverance and COMPOSURE kept us in the game.
Key plays throughout the Game
Nick Roth Taking 4 Charges Including Back 2 Back ones in the 4th
Weston Rogers going 7 for 11 at the line with 9 Assists and 11 rebounds.
Miles O. going 4 for 5 from 2s and 2 for 3 from 3s.
Marcus Lovett with superb ball handling and no turnovers.
TP. 2 for 3 for 2s and 2 for 6 from 3s.
Chance DeMers, Myron Lovett, Tyler Bebo, Spencer Rogers, & Will Rogers putting in quality time to give a breather to the rest of the team.
On Saturday afternoon Chugwater took on the Wolves of NSI.
Chugwater 68 NSI 39. This game was challenging due to the fact that we needed to work on getting everyone involved in the offense. We accomplished that and everyone had scoring opportunities.

Our next Goal.
"Get everyone firing on all CYLINDERS as we head into our final 4 games of the regular season".
Leaders are stepping up
Role players are fitting in and filling spaces where they are needed.

TEAM Building

1 More Step
This week proved to be a very successful for the Buffalos of Chugwater.
We entered the week 6 & 6 after coming off a disappointing lose to 2A Lingle-Fort Laramie Doggers. After 3 days of great practices we took on a 3A JV Wheatland, Wyoming team, that proved to be very good in matching up with our best players. Wheatland has always been a great basketball community and it shows with how fine tuned their JV players are in the basics. Going into half time we were down by 12. This week in practice we worked on consistency. Something that had been lacking in most of our games this year.
Every Second
Every Minute
Every Quarter
Every Half
Every Game
We get Better.
Was our motto. So we got better. In the third quart we gained a point. In the Fourth we gained 11 to send the game into OT. In OT we gained 3 more to take the game. 74 pts the most we have scored in a game in the last 3 years.
Saturday we made the 3.5 hour trip to Encampment where 2 years earlier they routed us 107 to 41. Anticipating bad roads we planned for a 4.5 hour trip. We got there early. An hour early. What do you do with 22 teenagers and a basketball court. You give them a basketball. So for an hour with no one else in the gym they all got together and played LIGHTNING for the hour. Its really something to watch them interact. To see Team/School chemistry coming together. No one set out. And when you were out on one side of the court you went to the next game on the other side. Next was the half court shooting where about 4 kids competed with each other to see who could make the wildest shot. Everyone cheered them on.
Game Time.
At half time of the girls game the guys went and started their ritual of getting ready for their game. I came in gave the game talk and left.
With about 3 minutes left in the 4th quarter of the girls game I went back to gather the guys and get them focused.
They were already focused. They had ran through plays and found that they were not catching the ball very well. So they organized several passing practice drills. They were all hot & sweaty and ready to go when I got there.
At that point it was obvious we were not going to have any trouble with Encampment tonight.
Final score 70 - 38.
On the long bus ride back they slept for about an hour. The other 2 and a half was filled with laughter and "great movie quotes".
Team - we are well on our way.
We are looking forward to this weekend.

TEAM (Together Everyone Achieves More)

TEAM
  • TOGETHER - Players, parents, school teachers & staff - Everyone must buy into the program that this is a team and not a bunch of individuals. The one big thing that undoes the TEAM concept is SELFISHNESS. When parents & players start becoming concerned over playing quantity & quality time they become focused on the individual and not the team. Everything that is done here is for the good of the team.
  • EVERYONE - Again Players, parents, teachers, coaches, & staff are involved with helping make the system work.In addition they will be there to reap the benefits of team play. Their kids will perform better in school & home as well as be better prepared to face the challenges of the real world.
  • ACHIEVES - What is our purpose for playing. Education, Social Experience outside the school, Growth, Enlightenment, Winning. Winning is the by product of being successful through the participation in sports. Winning also creates an awareness level of things that go on around you.
  • MORE - As an individual you may become limited in what, who, when, where you get exposed to. There are so many things out there that as an individual you may not get the opportunity to be exposed to. As a team you build bonds and relationships that will last a lifetime. In addition when you are exposed to team building at a young age you learn the importance of it and learn how to do it through your professional life.
